Tom Hanks Becomes Grandfather For Second Time
Tom Hanks is a grandfather again.
The Oscar-winning actor’s son Colin Hanks and his wife Samantha Bryant welcomed baby number two Charlotte Bryant Hanks. The couple, who married in 2010, also have a two-year-old daughter named Olivia Jane.
Colin Hanks, an actor who has appeared on Dexter, Mad Men, and NCIS, told People that “Ms. Charlotte Bryant Hanks has decided to join us .She’s as happy and healthy as we are overjoyed and tired.”
Second-time grandfather Tom Hanks is finishing his run on Broadway this week in the play Lucky Guy, so he should be able to spend more time with both of the girls. “No doubt having a new baby in the family has been met with much joy from the elder Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson as they are dedicated grandparents who love to spoil the newest family members, according to Colin,” London’s Daily Mail reports. Upon the birth of his first child, according to People Colin Hanks joked about his dad and stepmom Rita Wilson that “My wife and I are more than happy to give them our baby and say, ‘Here, watch her while we take a nap!'”
Reportedly the couple kept their second pregnancy a secret until they announced it in April at the premiere of Lucky Guy, for which Tom Hanks has received a Tony nomination.
Among his many honors in the field of entertainment, Tom Hanks, 56, won the best actor Academy Award for his starring roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. He has two upcoming new films, Saving Mr. Banks (in which he plays Walt Disney, the first actor ever to do so), and Captain Phillips, which is about the Somali pirates hijacking of an American cargo ship. Tom Hanks is ranked as the highest all-time box office star in terms of revenue.
