The Wisconsin Badgers will enter the 2010 CFB season as the #8 ranked team according to the Sporting News. This is a team coming off a 10 win season, and many are picking them to finish second in the Big Ten. They have a potential Heisman Trophy candidate in RB John Clay who will run behind a bruising O line. On Defense this team needs to find a playmaker to replace O’Brien Schofield. Badgers fans should not fret about the TE situation as this team’s next big thing is ready to step up at that position.
The key date of the Badger schedule is October 16th when they get Ohio State at home. In 2009 they lost to the Buckeyes 31-13. That loss was a sore spot for the team has they entered it with a 5-0 record. This year’s Badgers will be looking to prove that they are legitimate contenders. They also get a big game against Michigan State on October 9th in Lansing, Mi and will face one of the best defenders in the Big Ten.
This team has a lot of things going for it. They have a very easy non conference schedule, and given the 11 teams in the Big Ten will not face Penn State this year. October will be key with the two game mentioned above, and at Iowa October 23. If they go 2-1 or better yet 3-0 in those games we should be talking about this team heading to a BCS Bowl.
Lance Kendricks is the next big thing for this team at TE. He turned in a very solid 2009 campaign, and is set to have a breakout season as QB Scott Tolzein’s prime target.
