Ashlee Simpson And Evan Ross: Simpson’s New Man Poised For Hollywood Breakout
Ashlee Simpson started dating Evan Ross at just the right time.
The singer and little sister of Jessica Simpson has been seen out with Ross, the son of Motown legend Diana Ross. The pair were spotted at Teddy’s at the Roosevelt Hotel on Monday night, hanging around the club until the early morning hours on Tuesday.
The next day they were seen leaving a mutual friend’s house together, then spotted grabbing lunch in West Hollywood.
A love connection seems likely for Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross. Ashlee is fresh off a relationship with Boardwalk Empire actor Vincent Piazza, splitting amicably in November when the long-distance relationship fizzled.
Sources claim that Ashlee and Evan are just friends, at least for now.
“Evan and Ashlee have been friends for a really long time, probably ten years,” a source told Us Weekly. “They know each other from the club scene and have tons of mutual friends.”
But such denials seem standard at the beginning of a Hollywood relationship, and the night together suggests that Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross are more than just friends.
Away from the spotlight for a few years as she focused on her 4-year-old son Bronx, Ashlee now has a boyfriend poised to become a breakout star. After taking his first major movie role in the film ATL in 2006, Ross has slowly been building his reputation in Hollywood.
In 2010 he joined the cast of the CW re-boot of 90210, playing the half brother of Liam Court (Matt Lanter) and love interest to Annie Wilson (Shenae Grimes). From there he appeared in the critically acclaimed film festival winner, Mooz-lum, alongside Danny Glover and Nia Long.
Evan Ross would later win the Breakout Acting award at the SXSW festival.
The 24-year-old actor appears to have a bright future. He is set to appear as music producer Dallas Austin in the upcoming VH1 biopic about TLC, the 1990s female rap group. He also has another five projects in various stages of production.
If his cinematic breakout continues according to plan — and they decide to go public — Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross could soon be a powerful couple in Hollywood.
