Subway Testing Fritos Stuffed Sandwich In Select Markets

You know what they say: if you can’t beat them, stuff your sandwich full of Fritos and give up on life. Or something like that. Subway has stolen a page out of the Taco Bell playbook and has started testing a new Fritos sandwich called the Crunchy Chicken Enchilada Melt.

Taco Bell has seen huge success by combining junk food with more junk food. The Doritos Locos Tacos practically sold out the minute that they hit fast food windows. Well, it looks like Subway is trying to find success down the same path.

According to Food Beast, the Subway Crunch Chicken Enchilada Melt features Monterrey cheddar, shredded chicken, enchilada sauce, and, of course, Fritos.

Grub Grade reports that it’s currently being tested in select markets including Central Florida and downtown Seattle.

No word on how the sandwich actually tastes but it’s definitely one of Subway’s more interesting offerings in recent years. The sandwich shop has been pretty focused on five dollar foot longs and breakfast menu items lately while completely neglecting the junk food combination market.

Subway is often regarded as one of the “healthier” choices when it comes to fast food but with Doritos Tacos, Pop Tart Ice Cream Sandwiches, and donuts burgers dominating the market, a restaurant’s gotta do what a restaurant’s gotta do. And in this case that’s add Fritos to your sandwiches.

What do you think of the Crunchy Chicken Enchilada Melt? Will Subway score with its Fritos sandwich?
