Paris Jackson has been experiencing a lot of personal troubles lately, but her mother says she’ll pull through because she’s very strong . Uncle Jermaine, on the other hand, thinks Paris needs some good old fashioned discipline.
Though Paris, the second-oldest of Michael Jackson’s children, has been reportedly dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts since her father died in 2009, Jermaine Jackson told TMZ that her recent cutting episode was merely an overreaction and that she needs some discipline .
Last month, Paris Jackson slashed her arm open with a meat cleaver, which resulted in her hospitalization. This was reported as a reaction to being told she could not attend a Marilyn Manson concert, but sources and the gossip press speculated that her problems were deeper than that .
Either way, Jermaine isn’t having it.
“[Paris] has to learn there are certain guidelines when you grow up being a teenager,” he said. “There are rules.”
Though it’s not necessarily Paris’ fault. Jermaine implies that it’s a problem of guardianship. “I just think that … things could have been enforced a little stronger.”
Speaking of those guardians , the 15-year-old’s mother, Debbie Rowe, said Monday:
My daughter has asked that I extend a huge thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers and support. She is strong like her father

Her godfather, Mark Lester, added that Paris is “doing okay … she’s being looked after. She’ll be fine.”
Paris Jackson has been in a treatment center since she was admitted to the psychiatric facility at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles last month.
Do you agree with Jermaine Jackson? Does Paris just need a little discipline?
