Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Obama Get Nods In Teen Choice Awards 2013 Nominations
Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry and, er, President Barack Obama, have landed nods in the second wave of the Teen Choice Awards 2013 nominations.
In addition to previous May nominations for Choice Male Artist and Choice Male Hottie Award, Bieber now receives a Choice Twitter Personality nod.
In that category the over 41 million Twitter champ contends with the lady he ousted from that role, namely Lady Gaga. Other nominees are the leader of the Free world, Rihanna and Katy Perry.
Bieber is also up for Choice Single: Male Artist with Beauty And A Beat ft. Nicki Minaj and will do battle with Bruno Mars (“Locked Out Of Heaven”), Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z (“Suit &Tie), Robin Thicke, T.I. and Pharrell Williams (“Blurred Lines”) and Pitbull (“Feel This Moment”).
Over in the female powder room, Swift’s big-hitter (“I Knew You Were Trouble”) is pitted against Lovato’s (“Heart Attack”), Selena Gomez’s new number one (“Come and Get It”), Cyrus’ (“We Can’t Stop”), and Anna Kendrick (“Cups”) for Choice Single: Female Artist.
Swift is also nominated in the Best Break-Up Tune and Country Song categories for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
The sponsored Candie’s Choice Style Icon face-off will see Ariana Grande, Lovato, Cyrus, Emma Watson and Lea Michele step up to the ring.
In television land, popular talk show hosts Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres go head to head in the Choice Comedian category with Rebel Wilson, Melissa McCarthy and Daniel Tosh.
Choice TV Personality: Male delivered nods for The Voice’s Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, while The X Factor’s Lovato and America’s Got Talent Heidi Klum found favor in the same category for females.
Not surprisingly for the Teen Choice Awards, actors and actresses in blockbusters were the order of the day in film. Choice Movie Scene Stealer will be a knuckle cruncher between Channing Tatum (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises).
Nominations for Choice Webstar and Social Network are also included.
FOX will broadcast the Teen Choice Awards 2013 on August 11 when the winners will receive their awards. Voting in the Favorite Star category continues right up until August 10 at the the official site.
