Prince To Play At George Lucas’ Wedding

Prince is allegedly set to play at Star Wars director, George Lucas’, wedding over the weekend.

The New York Post has claimed that even though Lucas tied the knot to his longtime girlfriend, Mellody Hobson, last weekend, he is set to have a second soiree in Chicago, and it is thought that the “Purple Rain” singer will serenade the pair.

Neither Lucas or Prince have confirmed that he will be performing at the event, but it is already though that the musician is in the city.

Lucas married Hobson last Saturday, in Marin County, California, close to Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch, and the likes of Ron Howard and Samuel L. Jackson were in attendance.

Howard took to Twitter to label the wedding a “joy to behold,” as did Jackson, who played Mace Windu in Lucas’ The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones, and Revenge Of The Sith, who asked his fans to “give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his bride.”

The couple began dating in 2006, after they met at a business conference, and they went on to become engaged last January.

Previously the pair opened up about their relationship to Oprah Winfrey last year, stating, “I think it works because we are extraordinarily open-minded people and we’re open to what the universe brings us. I think we didn’t have preconceived ideas about what a partnership should be and so we allowed ourselves to discover something that was unexpected.”

Hobson is the chairman of the board at Dream Works Animations SKG Inc., and heads the investment management firm, Ariel Investments. Previously, Lucas was married to Marcia Lou Griffin from 1969 to 1983, whilst this is the first marriage for Chicago born, Hobson.
