Avril Lavigne Marries Chad Kroeger In South Of France

Avril Lavigne has been engaged to Nickleback frontman Chad Kroeger since August of last year. The rocking couple has been preparing for their wedding ever since and the wait is now over.

A source confirmed the couple’s marriage in the South of France to E! News. At the Billboard Music Awards a month ago, Lavigne spoke out about her wedding plans.

“We want it to be unique and special and we want it to be a very big event but at the same time it’s small and it’s just close friends and close family,” the rocker told E! News about her wedding.

“Of course [Chad] has been really involved,” she added. “He’s also been really cool with just letting me kinda taking the wedding in the direction I want to take it in.”

They’ve now officially tied the knot, and unlike other celebrities, they don’t seem to be hiding their big moment. Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger were very open to talking about their relationship and engagement over the past few months.

Kroeger took a backseat in the wedding plans, but he also added his own opinion on the special event when he had the chance.

“I sit back and I take a lot of the things that are presented to me, and I look at them on paper, and when I’m asked my opinion, I offer it very gently,” he told E! News about planning the wedding. “That’s the smartest thing I can possibly do because that big day is not about me. That big day is about her.”

The “big day” came in Cannes, France on Saturday, but it wasn’t Lavigne’s first time down the aisle. She divorced Deryck Whibley, her husband of three years and a member of Sum 41, in October of 2009 before moving on and eventually getting together with Kroeger.
