‘Kick-Ass 2’ Unleashes Two New Viral Clips [Video]
The promotional machine for Kick-Ass 2 is in full swing.
In case you haven’t heard, the sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s insanely enjoyable 2010 superhero flick is right around the corner. In an effort to reach those who are still riding the fence about the movie, two new viral videos have been released online.
As far as viral content is concerned, they’re a little weak. While fans get a chance to see some of the other heroes featured in Kick-Ass 2, they leave a little to be desired. However, those who simply cannot wait for the film’s release should find a few drops of enjoyment in the clips.
The first clip you’ll encounter below introduces the world to Battle Guy and Insect Man. The second viral video features Doctor Gravity (Donald Faison) and his Zero G device. All three want you to join Justice Forever if you’re willing and able to fight crime. In short, they’re fun but forgettable.
However, these clips aren’t nearly as effective as the unintentional marketing campaign started by Kick-Ass 2 co-star Jim Carrey. Despite months of trailers and posters, the actor has done more for the movie by refusing to promote it than the entire marketing team.
Kick-Ass mastermind Mark Millar was quick to address Carrey’s condemnation of the flick on his website. According to the comic book creator, the fact that the character never fires a gun is what initially drew Carrey to the movie.
“Ironically, Jim’s character in ‘Kick-Ass 2’ is a born-again Christian and the big deal we made of the fact that he refuses to fire a gun is something he told us attracted him to the role in the first place,” Millar explained.
He continued, “I’ve never quite bought the notion that violence in fiction leads to violence in real-life any more than Harry Potter casting a spell creates more Boy Wizards in real-life.”
The new clips from the upcoming sequel are embedded below.
