Christy Turlington Makes Modeling Comeback At Age 44 [Video]

Christy Turlington, one of the original supermodels from the group that first emerged in the late 1980s, is making an astonishing comeback at the age of 44. As you can see from the video, the Calvin Klein star who retired in 2007 after 20 years is now the new face of Calvin Klein underwear.

And that’s not all.

Among other lucrative gigs, Turlington will be the veteran face of the Prada fall/winter 2013 campaign.

She will also be modeling for Jason Wu’s fall 2013 campaign.

In a Women’s Wear Daily report published Thursday, designer Wu and Turlington had enthusiastic words for each other after a meet-up in at Mr. Chow in uptown New York. Wu said:

“I’ve been a huge fan of Christy and was so delighted that she agreed to appear in my fall campaign. She brings such inimitable charisma and chic to the image.”

Christy Turlington has also proved that she still has what it takes to be a cover girl, appearing on the cover of the July issue of Harper’s BAZAAR. Too often these days, magazine covers feature actresses or singers rather than genuine models — but Turlington’s enduring beauty allows her to break that trend.

Because of her past success, she can pick and choose jobs. She told Harper’s:

“Now I feel like it’s a treat again [to model] because I do it so seldom. I can appreciate it in a new way.”

And in case there was any doubt, Harper’s asked her if she thought she was really one of the first supermodels. She said yes, that she would “probably go down in history as one of the original supermodels.”
