Kat Von D Engagement Over
Kat Von D’s engagement to Deadmau5 has come to an end.
The iconic tattoo artist and her Canadian music producer fiancé, called it quits this week.
Kat Von D, age 31, tweeted, “man, I’m a fool” not long before announcing that her relationship with Deadmaus5 – real name Joel Zimmerman – was indeed over.
Her tweet Wednesday night, June 26, explained the reason, alluding that infidelity had lead to the couple’s demise.
“Cheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do,” she shared. “I hate to have to admit, that this relationship is indeed over.”
On Thursday, June 27, Zimmerman took to Facebook with a lengthier account of the couple’s troubles:
“Kat and I split in November and I moved back home to Toronto,” he wrote. “During this time, while we were broken up, I did have relations with another woman. Following that, Kat and I reconciled and I acknowledged being intimate with another person while we were estranged.”
He went on to say that he and Kat moved past their issues and became engaged in December. However, by the end of June 2013, it was “clear that the relationship was not working”, prompting the mutual ending of their relationship.
He also wrote that he “was not, at any point, unfaithful to Kat during [their] time together”.
“I don’t wish to go tit for tat with these kinds of pronouncements and don’t expect to comment further, but I do believe that those who have expressed concern deserve a more complete understanding of what transpired.”
The couple – who became engaged on Twitter and were planning an underwater wedding – met at a party and began dating in September 2012. This would have been a first marriage for 32-year-old Zimmerman, and a second for Kat, who was married to Oliver Peck from 2004-2007. She was also engaged to Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband, Jesse James in 2011.
