Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus may be musical collaborators but all is fair in love and VEVO.
Cyrus’ demure and bashful music video “We Can’t Stop” has broken VEVO’s record for most views in 24 hours, snatching Bieber’s crown on her way to the top.
The 20-year-old’s suggestive music video racked up 10.7 million views on the platform during its first 24 hours online.
“We Can’t Stop” premiered on June 19.
Bieber previously held the record for most viewed music video in 24 hours on VEVO with “Beauty and A Beat,” which features Nicki Minaj. The 19-year-old claimed 10.6 million views.
Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” is already number one in 30 territories around the world, and following her explicit performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! , those statistics should hold for a while yet.
Wearing the shortest of tiny black shorts, suede thigh-high boots, and a revealing white mesh top, the Nashville native performed a highly sexualized dance routine with two of her female back-up dancers on Kimmel’s Sony stage in Hollywood Calif., for her first live performance of the single.
Cyrus also performed with Will.i.am in a rendition of his song “Fall Down” on which she features for his largely collaborative album #willpower .
The ‘Twerking-loving’ star tweeted a message expressing her delight over her new VEVO record to her 12 million plus Twitter followers, by retweeting the platform’s formal announcement.
IT’S OFFICIAL! @MileyCyrus has broken the @VEVO 24hr record w/ #WeCantStop ! RT using #MileyVEVO to congratulate her! http://t.co/xz2tOkSToX

On Wednesday, the singer tweeted her appreciation over her Jimmy Kimmel appearance.

Presently, “We Can’t Stop” has received more than 33 million views on VEVO. It’s the first single off her upcoming and as yet untitled RCA Records debut album, for which Cyrus worked with a stack of big name producers including Pharrell Williams, Dr. Luke and the above mentioned will.i.am.
Bieber may possibly be a tad put out at losing his VEVO crown so soon after losing his YouTube lead to Rihanna, but it’s likely he won’t hold Cyrus’ victory against her.
The songstress recently confirmed on The Bert Show that the pair have already recorded material.
However, she also said she didn’t know if they were ever going to “let the world hear it.”
In other Bieber news, Johnny Depp has let it be known that his 12-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose, is pretty much over the Canadian.
Depp recently told E! News that Lily-Rose “… thinks that Bieber is obviously talented and stuff, but she’s now moving into other arenas of music in her life.”
So fickle, the young.
