Miley Cyrus ‘The Twerking Mascot,’ Says Ying Yang Twins
What ever happened to Disney’s sweet little Hannah Montana? That’s the question on some parents’ minds after star Miley Cyrus adopted an edgier image to promote her new music. Now it looks like she has a few supporters (okay, two supporters,) that are helping her promote that image.
The rap duo the Ying Yang Twins (remember them?) have proclaimed that Ms. Miley Cyrus is “the twerking mascot.” She’s such a twerking expert that the twins are saying that Cyrus’ name should be changed after the twerk dance move.
D-Roc from the Ying Yang Twins explained to MTV how Cyrus is changing the twerk game:
“I feel like we inspired the whole twerk movement because when everybody was kids they were listening to Ying Yang and that’s when they heard the twerk movement So once they got grown, it transitioned. Miley Cyrus was the one that was out there. Boom! Well do the Miley Cyrus then!”
Over the years Cyrus has changed her sound of music to fit her edgy look. The singer even outraged a few people when she explained her inspiration behind her new single, “We Can’t Stop.” Cyrus said to Vibe: “I want urban, I just want something that just feels Black.” This comment resulted in a lot of turned heads, and one open letter from a Huffington Post writer titled: ‘Miley Cyrus, Stop Disrespecting What ‘Feels Black.”
Cyrus’ embracing of hip hop music has impressed the Ying Yang Twins, and D-Roc continued his praise of Cyrus:
“Once she took that lane and started doing what she was doing, it’s going to make people look at her like ‘Oh, OK, Miley Cyrus like this kind of music. Miley Cyrus is the twerking mascot. She’s the Ying Yang mascot.”
For those who don’t know what twerking is, it’s a dance move that involves a person shaking their hips and backside in a bouncing motion, causing the lower torso two shake and jiggle.
