‘Smash Bros.’ Fan Music Video Shows Dedication [Video]
Smash Bros. has inspired a fan video called “Smash,” which shows quite the dedication.
When was the last time you went through the trouble to dress up as your favorite video game characters and write an original song just to celebrate the existence of a game not even out yet? YouTube channel Screen Team has done just that in honor of the upcoming Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. This impressive production breaks out just enough special effects to pull off one of the best made video game based music videos ever seen.
The fan-made Smash Bros. music video “Smash” begins with Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach popping up from beneath the screen, followed by Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong doing a quick dance to the beat of what sounds like the starting moments of Queen’s “We Are the Champions.” Next up is Solid Snake, Pikachu, Ganon, and Yoshi, followed by the title screen for the music video with iconic helmets and hats atop the word “Smash.”
A guy dressed up in a striped shirt, red cap, shorts and a backpack skips down the sidewalk as he happens upon the Ice Climbers, both holding large hammers. A fire erupts in front of them and the boy tries to swing a bat at them, but Ganon steals it and faces him down before taking a swing. The boy runs off and we then see Bowser, Ash Ketchum and the Game and Watch guy alongside a recurring shot of Pikachu as the Smash Bros. tribute music video continues.
The Ice Climbers freeze Ganon as he tries to attack them, but he breaks free and punches them anyway. The boy escapes via Mario‘s pipe, and as he comes out, he sees Link and Zelda. Link throws a bomb at Ganon, who dodges and runs after them. Zelda vanishes, and then attacks him from behind as a plethora of characters start the massive battle their own way.
Along the way we also see Kirby, Kid Icarus, Pikmin, and several more.
Toward the end, we see Megaman, the Animal Crossing Villager, and the Wii Fit Trainer as a reminder that a new Smash Bros. is coming.
