Gary Player, 77, To Strip Down For ESPN’s The Body Issue
ESPN’s The Body Issue typically features young athletes in peak physical shape. People like Blake Griffin, Ronda Rousey and Tyson Chandler have posed for the magazine and now 77-year-od Gary Player will join their ranks.
Player may seem like an unusual choice for The Body Issue but SB Nation notes that the retired golfer still keeps his body in “triathlon” shape.
Player said:
After a lifetime dedicated to health & fitness I’m chuffed to be in @ESPNmag’s Body Issue to hopefully inspire others to workout & live well.”
Player, who still does 1000 situps a day, will be the oldest athlete to ever pose nude for the magazine. According to CBS Sports, he will also be the 7th golfer to pose for the magazine.
This 2013 ESPN the Magazine‘s Body Issue will also feature 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Wizards point guard John Wall, and WNBA star Swin Cash.
Kaepernick said:
“Being selected by ESPN The Magazine for the Body Issue is an incredible honor. Thank you for believing in me, my 49ers family and my INK!”
