Chris Brown Charged With Criminal Hit And Run, He Fires Back On Twitter
UPDATE: Chris Brown has now changed his image on Twitter to the car he says he is accused of hitting. I have posted that picture down below so you can judge for yourself how serious this crime really was.
ORIGINAL REPORT:
Chris Brown has now been charged with two misdemeanor criminal charges that have been filed by the Los Angeles City Attorney.
According to both CBS Los Angeles and TMZ, the troubled singer is charged with driving without a license and with hit-and-run. The new charges stem from an incident last month when he rear-ended a Mercedes.
The prosecutors allege that Chris Brown wouldn’t exchange the required information with his victim. Instead, he refused to show a valid license, gave false insurance information, and then left the scene.
He’ll be arraigned at a court hearing in Van Nuys on July 15. The maximum sentence for each offense Chris Brown is charged with is six months.
However, the charges could present a much larger problem for Brown than it sounds like. A TMZ’s source said that the City Attorney will also ask the district attorney’s office to investigate whether or not the new criminal charges represent a violation of his probation in the Rihanna assault case.
If a judge rules that Chris Brown violated probation, the singer could be sent to prison for up to four years.
Chris Brown has taken to Twitter to make his case. I’ll let him speak for himself.
It’s not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous

I have a valid drivers license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene.

She contacted the cops thinking of a payday from Chris Brown when I followed the proper procedures.

I think we all have our own opinion, but I have to admit that it would be a shame for a man to lose his freedom over a minor fender-bender. Especially an accident THIS minor:
If that’s the car, it’s pretty convincing evidence of possible extortion to me. But what do I know?
What’s your take on the latest bad news to hit Chris Brown?
