Armie Hammer ‘Ant-Man’ Rumors Increase After Awkward Interview
Armie Hammer has accidentally increased speculation that he will star in Marvel’s upcoming comic book adaptation, Ant-Man, after taking part in a rather awkward interview that confronted rumors he was going to sign on for the project.
Ant-Man is set to be directed by Shaun of the Dead’s Edgar Wright, and will finally be released on November 6, 2015, after the release of The Avengers 2.
Up until now there hadn’t been any word on who might play the lead role of Henry Pym, with the likes of Chris Pine, Alan Tudyk, and Lee Pace, linked, but now Hammer has suddenly shot straight to the top of the list.
At a press junket for The Lone Ranger, Hammer’s upcoming film where he stars alongside Johnny Depp, Hammer was asked a barrage of questions regarding rumors that he had been spotted on the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
He was first asked, “So, you and Edgar Wright visited the Captain America 2 set …” to which Hammer replied, “Me and Edgar? Who’s Edgar? The actor?”
When he was told that they were talking about the director, Hammer questioned, “Edgar Wright?” before asking, “Who’s Edgar Wright?”
Then when he was told that Wright was the director of Ant-Man, Hammer proclaimed, “Ant-Man? Oh! Wait! You think you know something! No, there’s nothing! What do you know? What’s the rumour?”
The Social Network star was then told that he had been spotted on the set of Captain America 2 with Wright to which he stated, “No, there’s nothing.”
He then promised that he wasn’t starring as Pym, and said this was the first time that he’d heard of the speculation before his publicist chimed in and said “I’ve never heard of that ever ever. Who’s Ant-Man?”
Hammer did confirm that he visited the set to visit a friend who worked on the film, but that he ventured there alone. However, his reaction did seem a tad overzealous, so maybe he was trying to hide something after all.
Do you think Hammer would make a good Ant-Man?
