Jason Statham: ‘Fast And Furious 7’ Won’t Interfere With ‘The Expendables 3’
Jason Statham is currently involved with no less than two blockbuster franchises at the moment. Thankfully, his obligation to one won’t stand in the way of the other.
The busy action hero recently sat down to chat about Fast and the Furious 7 and the upcoming star-studded sequel The Expendables 3.
For those of you who haven’t seen Fast and Furious 6: Stop reading this article right now. Jason Statham’s involvement with the sequel is directly tied to the ending of the latest installment. Unless you want spoilers, you’d do well to steer clear.
During his chat with Coming Soon, Statham discussed his role as the antagonist in director James Wan’s Fast and Furious 7. While he didn’t give away too many details about the flick, he did say he and the filmmakers are currently exploring the ins and outs of the character.
“I’m gonna do what I do. Obviously we’re trying to work out now what angle to come from. Some people say, ‘Wait, are you gonna be the villain? The guy who threatens the world and wants to blow everything up?’ No,” the actor explained.
Statham told Entertainment Weekly he’s been sworn to secrecy about the role by the suits at Universal Pictures. He joked that the studio would “kill him” if he revealed too many details about the project.
“People think I’m gonna play the bad guy. People think I’m gonna be the villain. People don’t really know what’s comin’, and I think there’s something exciting about that. People are just dying to know what extent and what involvement I’m going to have in the movie,” he told the website.
Regardless of how the character figures into the plot of Fast and the Furious 7, Jason Statham’s involvement with the flick won’t interfere with his obligations to The Expendables 3. It just means he’s going to have to work that much harder.
“I’m gonna be able to do the two back-to-back. It’s great to have two ensemble pieces where the weight’s not on my shoulders. I’m just gonna have a little fun and enjoy myself,” he said.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Luc Besson is currently looking to deliver three more installments of the Transporter franchise, a series Jason Statham helped popularize. While the movies are going to happen, it’s still unclear if he will reprise his role as Frank Martin.
