Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Were Pocahontas And John Smith, Says Hacking Lawsuit
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are at the heart of a new lawsuit filed against Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp in the ongoing fallout of illegal hacking allegations. According to a Reuters report, it will be the first lawsuit filed in the United States in the wake of the ongoing scandal that first rocked Britain’s news media two years ago.
Angelina Jolie’s stunt double Eunice Huthart filed the suit in the US District Court in California earlier this month. She claims that News Corp tabloid reporters hacked into her phone while she was working for Jolie on the filming of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in Los Angeles.
The 2005 film has since become famous as the set where Pitt, then married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston, began his affair with Jolie
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie now have six children and are engaged to be married.
Huthart’s lawsuit said that News Corp hacked her cell phone calls, causing her to miss messages — and allowing UK tabloids The Sun and now-shuttered News of the World to steal information that later appeared in those publications.
More than 60 people have already been arrested in the UK for the illegal hacking. News Corp was forced to shut down the publication of News of the World and now plans to divide the company in two at the end of this month. Murdoch is also divesting himself of third wife Wendi Deng, a move announced the same day as the News Corp split — presumably to reduce repeated shocks to investors.
The new lawsuit filing has, of course, attracted a new look at the old affair. According to Yahoo! gossip blog OMG!, one detail that emerged is the cutesy-poo name Jolie used to check into hotels while the affair was still hush-hush top-secret.
Are you ready for this?
There’s a tall tale, pretty much invented by 1600s-era explorer John Smith himself, that he was rescued from being executed by a Native American group by a princess named Pocahontas.
And there’s sort of a tradition among cheatin’ dirty dog married men of using easy to remember fake names to check into hotels — names like the ever-popular John Smith.
It didn’t hurt that Jolie and Pitt were actually working on a film called Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Put it all together, and apparently Jolie thought it would be pretty cool to check into hotels under the name Pocahontas. She also reportedly used the name as a code in a voicemail to Huthart.
Well, I never pass by a cheap and easy pun either. Glad to know I have something in common with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
