Lil Snupe Killing: Police Seek 36-Year-Old Louisiana Man For Killing Teen Rapper
Rapper Lil Snupe was gunned down by a 36-year-old after an early morning dispute turned into a robbery and homicide, police in Louisiana say.
On Friday Winnifield police identified Tony D. Holden as a suspect in 18-year-old rapper Lil Snupe’s killing.
Lil Snupe was gunned down in Louisiana in the early morning hours on Thursday. The WInnfield City Police Department said they responded to calls of a shooting at the Maplewood Apartments just after 4 am, where they found Lil Snupe (born Adderran Ross) with two gunshot wounds to his chest. He was declared dead at the scene.
Police say Holden is considered armed and dangerous, and has relatives and/or associated in Winnifield, Texas, and other parts of the country. Holden has a rap sheet that includes several charges related to cocaine as well as counts of forcible rape, second-degree kidnapping, and aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon.
This week Lil Snupe was remembered as an up-and-coming rapper who was making the most of his big break.
Late last year Snupe met rapper Meek MIll during a tour stop at Grambling State University, passing along a demo tape to the Dream Chasers MC.
“He was in a van, they was finna pull off. And I went and knocked on the van, on the window. They let the window down, grabbed the mixtape and it was like 10 minutes later, 20 minutes later they called me,” Snupe told MTV News back in February.
The demo made an immediate impression. After Meek turned around to get back to Lil Snupe, the 17-year-old was signed to the MMG rapper’s label within the hour.
“He was spittin’ so much pain, he’s from the south with a flow like an east coast guy,” Meek said. “Like with that bounce flow, all over the place, he really can spit, and he was talking that talk that I can really relate to. I seen potential in him.”
But Meek Mill implied that Lil Snupe struggle with bad influences and a fast lifestyle, saying on a tweet that would later be deleted: “R.I.P 2 my lil f—ing ni–a #lilsnupe I tried everything in my power 2 get that kid out of the streets!” Meek wrote.
Police said Lil Snupe was killed in a dispute over a video game.
