John Travolta To Look After James Gandolfini’s Family
John Travolta has vowed to look after James Gandolfini’s family, following The Sopranos star’s untimely death at the age of 51 on Wednesday.
Gandolfini, was survived by his wife, Deborah Linn, and their eight month old daughter, whilst his son Michael, who is aged 13, was with his father when he died.
Travolta has revealed that his good friend, Gandolfini, helped him through the despair of losing his autistic son in 2009. Jett Travolta died at the age of 16 when suffered a fatal seizure.
Travolta talked of his help, noting, “James went out of his way to come to Florida and he would not leave Florida until I was OK, or he felt that I would be fine. After a week I said, ‘Jim, you can really, you can, you know, we’ll be fine. I’ve got a lot of support here.’ But the idea that in our profession someone would go out of their way and not want to leave you until he felt you were OK, that’s the kind of soul that James Gandolfini was.”
Travolta also stated, “My goal is to make sure his family is OK. His little boy, I watched him grow up, and his brand new little girl. We’ll just make sure they’re taken care of.”
Travolta and Gandolfini starred alongside each other in three movies. These included Get Shorty, Lonely Hearts, and The Taking Of Pelham 123.
The Pulp Fiction star told Good Morning America on Thursday, that he had a direct influence on Gandolfini’s career. He stated, “My father sold tyres to his father. I was his inspiration to get into the business. He would see pictures of me on the wall from movies and he decided that he wanted to be an actor.”
