Justin Bieber’s First Instagram Video: So, Stoned Or Not?

Justin Bieber’s first Instagram video — a shirtless, giggling affair — delighted fans on Thursday. But, it has also triggered speculation that the 19-year-old was stoned.

Making full use of the new video recording service on the Facebook owned image-sharing website, the tattooed teen star was a bundle of giggles within the first few seconds of the self-shot clip.

Staring in to the camera, Bieber’s first words were:

“So crazy news, just …” he said, before breaking off into peals of laughter.

The pop star kept on filming, telling friends off-camera that he would keep going.

“Crazy news guys. There’s… video on Instagram,” Bieber began, before giggling once more.

The 15-second Insta-vid (new word?) went viral within minutes and was met with reams of adoring messages from the singer’s army of Beliebers.

However, the video has also led to suggestions in some media reports and by some of the star’s fans that Bieber’s slurring, giggles, and slightly glazed expression were the result of marijuana.

“Justin bieber was stoned in that IG video,” wrote one fan on Twitter.

Some online commenters agreed.

Of course, another interpretation of why the shirtless, silver-chain wearing singer was so happy in the Instagram clip could simply be a typical teenager larking about with friends — or relief.

The singer was recently cleared from a Los Angeles police investigation into an alleged hit and run of a paparazzo outside the Laugh Factory comedy club in Hollywood on Monday night.

Examination of footage of the incident revealed chaotic scenes as paparazzi surrounded Bieber’s white Ferrari, making it impossible for the pop star to drive or see through the flash photography.

Even though Bieber’s car hit a paparazzo when the road partially cleared, police determined no hit and run took place, and are instead looking at the photographer’s own liability due to his decision to stand in the road.

As for yesterday’s Instagram video?

In an era when mass decriminalization of non-medical, personal marijuana usage is taking place in multiple states all over America — and, in fact, around the world — why it’s even an issue whether Bieber was stoned or not is the real mystery.

The Biebs attended the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs NBA finals in Miami last night. He is set to perform at his first returning show in San Diego this Saturday before continuing the last leg of his Believe world tour.
