Joe Torre’s Daughter Catches Falling Baby, Parents Charged

Joe Torre’s daughter has been hailed a hero by police after she dramatically caught a falling baby in Brooklyn on Wednesday and saved its life.

Cristina, aged 44, is the daughter of Yankee legend Joe Torre. Her braveness and quick reflexes saved the child’s life. Joe Torre’s daughter was in the right place at the right time, and the baby that fell is lucky to be alive.

Dillin Miller, the one year old who fell, crawled through a window in the second-story apartment in Brooklyn. He then climbed onto the adjacent fireplace, plummeting many feet to the awning of the frozen yogurt store below.

Luckily for Dillin, Joe Torre’s daughter was biking past at the time of the fall and quickly jumped off her bike and caught the child saving him from crashing to the side walk from the awning.

An eyewitness spoke to reporters at the scene saying:

“The child was screaming, crying, and they were attending the child, and they were, like, panicking because they didn’t know who the child belonged to.So then a lady said the child belongs to one of the people who live in that apartment.”

Denise Vento of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn where the fall happened said:

“She was positioning herself, and she works with preschool kids, and she kind of knew from what he was doing; that he was going to come down, and she was in the right place at the right time, thank God.”

The parents of the child  are Sam Miller, 23, and Tiffany Demetria, 24. They have both been arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, acting in a manner injurious to a child .

The couple reportedly have three other children aged 2, 3 and 5. Child Protective Services have taken the siblings into their care for the time being.

There is no question that Joe Torre‘s daughter Cristina acted properly and is a hero for catching Dillin. What about the parents though, who have now been arrested and charged ?
