Justin Bieber: ‘I Have Never Even Met This Kid Kevi!’

Justin Bieber has never met King Kevi. This news will apparently come as some surprise to Kevi, who claims he is the pop star’s best friend.

Yesterday, the “Beauty and a Beat” singer posted a message to his Twitter account which read:

“i have never even met this kid Kevi! do u people ever even fact check!”

Bieber’s exasperated tweet was posted in response to an ‘exclusive report’ by Radar Online that purported to reveal details of parties allegedly held at the singer’s house, and allegedly arranged by self-proclaimed best friend King Kevi.

Bieber’s tweet has since been deleted. But not before it was screenshot.

King Kevi currently resides at the Passages Malibu Addiction Treatment Center in Calif., and is reportedly near the end of a 30-day program for codeine abuse.

Such abuse is commonly ingested in the form of a street cocktail also known as sizzurp,” which is codeine and dextromethorphan mixed with soda or alcohol to produce a high. In other words, Kevi has spent enough of his time on drugs to necessitate residential treatment.

Justin Bieber Does Not Know Who King Kevi Is And Has Never Met Him

Among the statements Kevi offered Radar was a claim that he was Bieber’s best friend. He also claimed he spoke to the singer “everyday” and was once given a jewel encrusted necklace by the teen star.

Kevi told the tabloid he was “the main party guy” for Bieber’s circle of friends and the “ringleader for getting [sizzurp] for everybody.” He also claimed he was given the “ok” to routinely invite “60 or 70 girls” — none of whom, oddly, have ever been captured in paparazzi pictures — to Bieber’s parties as long as everyone signed non-disclosure agreements.

Within hours of Radar’s story going to press, a source from Bieber’s camp told Gossip Cop that the singer does not know Kevi. The precise quote stated the 19-year-old has “never met him [Kevi] before,” and that he, “doesn’t know how he is.”

As it turns out Kevi is apparently well known for exaggerating or imagining his links to celebrities without basis, and allegedly, has previously done this with stars such as Selena Gomez and Kate Upton.

Kevi’s past explanations as to why no photographic or other physical evidence exists to support his claim of knowing certain celebrities have ranged from “he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight,” to his ready-to-go Bieber disclaimer. Kevi told Radar not to expect to see photos of him with Bieber once he leaves rehab because “Justin’s not really supposed to be seen with me.”

The Bieber insider quoted by Gossip Cop called Kevi’s comments “delusional,” and called the rehab-inhabitant a “complete liar.”

In addition, Gossip Cop reports several clubs in Los Angeles have banned Kevi for allegedly demanding V.I.P. treatment while claiming he was meeting Bieber at these venues, even when the Canadian was out of the country.

While it seems Kevi has issues that extend beyond drugs, it is irresponsible for a media outlet to quote a source without (allegedly) first verifying whether that source is credible.

In such cases when a story appears to be false — as Kevi’s stories appear to be — aggrieved parties can pursue a libel action in the court. It’s worth noting that all media outlets set budgets for liability insurance to cover such actions.

But, in a way, Bieber’s tweet does what a court would do, without the cost and loss of time spent on unpleasantries.

In 2011, a 30-day treatment package at Passages Malibu center cost $88,500. According to the Los Angeles Times, the center’s claims of a 80 percent and/or above rehabilitation rate have previously been questioned by other rehabilitation professionals because their statistics include patients who have been out of treatment for only 30 days.

Perez Hilton, who also reported on Kevi’s claims, asked a key question: “Why would he lie about such a thing!?,” before answering with a truism about those who seek publicity, attention and money — through deception.
