George Takei Corrects Fan On Conan, Says ‘Most Things In Nature Are Gay’ [Video]
George Takei took to Conan O’Brien’s late night show on Monday night to help the popular TV personality with fan corrections. O’Brien regularly does a skit where fans can chime in on his mistakes during episodes before he, or some other surprise guest, explain that he was right all along.
During this show, a fan named David is making the case that Conan had it all wrong during a canoeing bit in a previous episode.
“When you turned back to face the audience, you pulled the oar across the front of you. Conan, that’s not how water works,” David said in the homemade video. “If you want to turn the boat, you have to move the boat in the opposite direction! Even I know that, and I’m gay.”
To clear up the matter, Conan called on the “paddling expert and gay icon.” Takei came out to a roaring applause and began his own hilarious skit in defense of Conan’s canoeing skills.
“Water works differently for straight people,” George Takei said in a jokingly manner. “That’s because water itself is gay. We wouldn’t have raindrops or oceans if water didn’t like to bind to itself.”
The 76-year-old Star Trek star didn’t stop there as he went on to break down the “fan correction” even further.
“The fact is, most things in nature are gay,” he added. ” Rocks are gay. The North Pole and South Pole are gay. They only repel each other ’cause they’re in denial.”
He finished it off by concluding that Conan had it right all along.
“Conan paddled correctly, David — for a straight person,” Takei said at the end of his skit. “So, please, put aside your heterophobia for just a moment and accept Conan for who he is.”
The hilarious segment of the show has received great reviews for the American actor and author, but he’s also facing some scrutiny for his ghostwriter on Facebook that revealed he was brought in to create jokes.
