Evan Peters, Donald Glover Join ‘Reawakening’
American Horror Story star Evan Peters and Community star Donald Glover will be teaming up to bring the dead back to life in the David Gelb-directed horror film Reawakening.
The two young actors join Olivia Wilde and Mark Duplass as research students who discover the secret to bringing people back from the dead. However, their actions have a series on sinister consequences.
Thescript for Reawakening will be written by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four) and executive produced by Luke Dawson (Shutter) and Matt Kaplan. Jason Blum will produce the film through his Blumhouse banner.
Blum recently produced The Purge along with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Bradley Fuller and Sebastien Kurt Lemercier. The horror-thriller, which had a budget of $3 million, has already made back ten times that amount in its opening weekend. Universal wasted no time capitalizing on that success, and a sequel is already in development.
David Gelb is probably best known for his 2011 documentary, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, which follows 85-yearold sushi master Jiro Ono on his quest to perfect the art of sushi. The film also profiles Ono’s two sons, who are also sushi chefs. The film received very positive reviews from critics, earning a 99 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 77 on Metacritic.
Donald Glover will be appearing alongside fellow NYU graduate Aubrey Plaza in The To Do List, which is set to be released July 26. Glover previously appeared in the HBO series Girls and currently plays Troy Barnes on Community. The comedy will be returning to NBC, with Dan Harmon as showrunner, with a 13-episode fifth season.
Evan Peters was recently cast as Quicksilver, the son of Magneto and twin brother of Scarlet Witch, in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Peters will also be returning for the third installment of American Horror Story, which is subtitled Coven.
