Tiger Woods is probably used to getting asked uncomfortable questions at press conferences by now. This time, though, the person asking as well as the question asked left Woods stunned for a few minutes.
At his press conference on Tuesday, he was asked:
“The U.S. Open is usually one of the most grueling weeks of golf,” asked a young woman in the media tent. “So what would you do off the course in order to be at ease and relax?”
It’s not a hard question to answer, but it had a certain undertone and the source was even more surprising, since the person asking it is Tiger’s own niece, Cheyenne Woods.
That is probably what left the golfer mute for a few minutes, an occurrence that the rest of those gathered at the event seemed to enjoy. People starting chuckling and then he recovered saying:
“Didn’t expect that.”
He carried on and smiled adding:
“Well, off the course, we have a great crew at the house and we’re going to have fun,” he began. “Tomorrow, make sure you’re- is it 6:30 dinner? Is that all right? Okay. Perfect.”
Chayenne seemed to be pleased with the answer, flashing a big smile to her famous uncle Tiger Woods. She appeared to be happy to have discomfited him:
“I don’t think he knew I was going to be at the press conference today,” she told a few reporters as she left. “I think I was the last person he was expecting.”
Well, one can say that. Chayenne majored in communications at Wake Forest University and she is writing for a golf website called Back9Network.com, which is affiliated with USA Today.
She has some golfing skills as well, qualifying for the U.S. Women’s Open last year and playing in her first LPGA Championship. It appears that Golf runs in Tiger Woods ‘ family.
