Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested today after getting into a bar fight in Cincinnati.
The incident occurred on Thursday night after a Cincinnati Reds game. Jones wrote on Twitter this morning that he was turning himself in to police.
Jones wrote on Twitter: “Just got arrested for protecting myself, I will not let this break me or change what I have work so hard for. . . .”
According to Pro Football Talk , Jones was at a bar when two women approached him and asked to take a photograph. When Jones declined the request one of the women allegedly threw a beer bottle at him. Jones turned and slapped the woman, saying: “What are your doing? Stop it!”
The woman reported the event to police and Jones was arrested this morning.
Jones’ agent, Peter Schaffer, called the arrest a “travesty of justice.”
Schaffer said: “If it was anybody other than Adam Jones, they would have investigated it … If it was anybody other than Adam Jones, they wouldn’t have arrested him.”
Jones has had multiple run-ins with police during the course of his career but he has largely stayed out of trouble in recent years. According to Sports Illustrated , his last arrest came in the summer of 2011 when he was arrested for disorderly conduct. He paid a $25ofine for that incident and was sentenced to community service.
