New ‘Elysium’ Image Finds Matt Damon Preparing For Battle [Photo]
A new image featuring Matt Damon from the upcoming sci-fi flick Elysium has surfaced online.
With all of the movies that are currently slated to arrive in theaters this summer, it’s easy to forget that writer-director Neill Blomkamp’s effort is right around the corner.
In an effort to keep people talking, the folks at Sony Pictures (TriStar) have dropped another image on the masses. You can find the latest promotional pic embedded below.
The new still from Elysium finds Matt Damon crouched next to a burning car while he focuses on the elaborate weaponry in his hands. Closing in for battle is one of the character’s on-screen adversaries, who is portrayed by District 9 and A-Team star Sharlto Copley.
The dystopian sci-fi flick is the long-awaited follow-up to Neill Blomkamp’s District 9. The film is expected to arrive in theaters in just a little over a month.
This is how Sony Pictures describes the feature:
“In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance bring equality to these worlds is Max, an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt and her hard-line forces — but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.”
Joining Damon and Copley in Blomkamp’s flick are Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Wagner Moura. You can find the latest image from the movie below.
