Blackhawks, Bruins Get Ready For Original Six Stanley Cup Finals Showdown


The Chicago Blackhaws and the Boston Bruins will be meeting in the Stanley Cup finals this year.

According to the Boston Herald, this is the first time that two teams from the original six will meet in the finals since 1979.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said: “It’s a special couple places. The tradition of the Bruins and the Hawks is special … I think it’s good for the league … It’s good for hockey. Two great hockey markets. We’re very excited to be a part of it.”

The Bruins managed to dispatch of the Pittsburgh Penguins in four games in their conference finals while it took the Blackhawks five games to get rid of the defending champion Los Angeles Kings. Both teams are incredibly hot at the moment combining for 16 wins in the last 18 games.

Game 1 of the Stanly Cup finals will kick off on Wednesday night in Chicago.

Here’s the schedule for the final seven games of the NHL season.

Game 1: Wednesday at Chicago, 7 p.m. CST
Game 2: Saturday at Chicago, 7 p.m.
Game 3: Monday, June 17, at Boston, 7 p.m.
Game 4: Wednesday, June 19, at Boston, 7 p.m.
Game 5 (if necessary): Saturday, June 22, at Chicago, 7 p.m.
Game 6 (if necessary): Monday, June 24, at Boston, 7 p.m.
Game 7 (if necessary): Wednesday, June 26, at Chicago, 7 p.m.

Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp said: “Every series presents its challenges … Watching Boston, they’re rolling right now. Another tough series ahead of us.”
