‘Modern Warfare’ Creator’s New Title ‘Titanfall’ Will Be Xbox Exclusive
Titanfall, the new title from the creator of Modern Warfare, will be Xbox exclusive.
By now we’ve all heard of Call of Duty. If you followed the Xbox One reveal at all, you’ve at least heard of the Call of Duty: Ghosts dog, if not TV. Call of Duty had a popular sequel for a while called Modern Warfare, created by Infinity Ward. The game was so successful it spawned a second Modern Warfare, but that’s beside the point.
Developers behind Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare left the company to form Respawn Entertainment, and a new game has been in development. We haven’t known until recently when Cartman86 of NeoGAF saw the latest cover of the magazine Game Informer on his Android device, where it was apparently accidentally leaked that the title of the game would be Titanfall.
Cartman86 stated that the game was being developed specifically for “Xbox One and PC. With a 360 version being developed by someone else. Game uses cloud a bunch apparently.”
The magazine cover Cartman86 screen captured features a woman in futuristic military garb firing a high-powered weapon at the top of a giant machine, probably a “Titan.” A bunch of flying vehicles and another robot are in the distance behind her.
Apparently, the use of the Xbox One and PC “cloud” will mean that the game will require an online connection to work. There you go, Xbox One fans, confirmation of the necessity of an “always on” internet connection for Titanfall.
Cartman86 reads on from the magazine he spotted, “Respawn will use the Xbox One’s cloud-computing services to make the game run beyond the hardware’s offline capabilities, utilizing the cloud for physics and AI calculations.”
Titanfall will apparently use Valve’s Source engine, and to those who wonder why Valve sounds so familiar, they’re the ones behind the simple-but-fun zombie game Left 4 Dead. Little else is known about Titanfall at this point, and the cover was reportedly a leak which may have been changed to try maintaining secrecy.
What do you think about the ex-Modern Warfare creator’s new title Titanfall being Xbox exclusive?
