Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’s ambiguous relationship has reportedly hit the rocks, after reports they had recently reconciled. And apparently, this time it’s for good.
“They are not together right now,” a source told Hollywood Life .”They are just friends. They are always on and off.”
If that sounds like a fair description of about 75 percent of every teenage on-off couple out there it’s because it is, so watch that space is perhaps the wisest view.
Rumors that Gomez, 20, and Bieber, 19, had reunited after their split last year, sparked when the “Come and Get It” star flew to Oslo to see her ex-beau during the European leg of his Believe tour.
At the time sources said the pair had an “intense” and “crazy connection.” Two Instagrams followed, both of which suggested the couple were once again an item.
Later sightings of Gomez at Bieber’s Los Angeles home after his tour wrapped, reported date nights in L.A., Las Vegas , and that backstage kiss at the Billboard Music awards all seemed to spell romance.
But after previous reports that the couple were “taking it slow,” the pair have now slowed it down — permanently.
We’ll see.
For those looking for clues as to what may or may not have been the final straw for the pair, you won’t find them on the Spring Breakers actress latest single — the aptly named “Slow Down.”
Released just days ago, the dance-lite song centers on the hook: “Yeah, baby slow down the song.” Gomez recently revealed the cover art and track list for her debut album Stars Dance , which drops on July 23 the day after her 21st birthday. Album tracklisting here.
Meanwhile, a certain young Canadian is gearing up to do a little unleashing of his own.
Bieber may have partied it up at various Miami club s on Monday night after he attended Game 7 of the NBA’s Heat-Pacers series, getting serious online heat as a result because he wore leather (gasp), gold chains (gasp), sunglasses and a hat (bigger gasp).
But at some point during Tuesday’s wee hours he got busy teasing the name and artwork of his new single “Heartbreaker” via Instagram, achieving a new Twitter milestone less than 24 hours later.
Not surprisingly, given the intense anticipation — and stakes — about Bieber’s upcoming music there was no accompanying song snippet. However, the good news, as one of the Instagram captions promised, is that “Heartbreaker” will be “… coming soon.”
So, to recap: #40MillionStrong don’t care if Bieber is going through a leather on leather, chains and shades phase, or how he drinks water; Miami sounds like it might be fun; the saga that is Gomez and Bieber’s ‘never properly confirmed as back on anyway’ relationship is now reportedly done; and both are promoting new singles.
Keeping up?
