‘The Last Of Us’ Multiplayer Details Revealed
Multiplayer details for The Last of Us have been revealed.
The Last of Us may not be the most popular game in the making, but it very well may be pushing the whole zombie game franchise in a needed direction. Originally planned as a single player game, details have been released revealing once and for all that yes, The Last of Us will be multiplayer, with the use of DLC.
Alongside a possibly strong extension of its single player campaign, Naughty Dog has revealed multiplayer details which prove that much like the Uncharted series, The Last of Us could have an equally strong presence with several players at once.
Naughty Dog has stated that it is working on “the best multiplayer conceived,” and we have to take their word for it at the moment. After all, Fuse was said to have a good single player campaign, but it ended up being almost impossible without help.
The multiplayer modes that Naughty Dog has revealed for The Last of Us so far are Survivors and Factions.
Survivors is an “us against them” scenario pitting teams of players against each other for up to seven rounds. In a way, this multiplayer mode borrows heavily from the classic fighting game formula.
Factions is built around the idea of raids. You raid a target structure, either collecting the stated amount of supplies before the other team (Supply) or killing a target number of enemies (Survival). The two teams choose to be the Hunters or the Fireflies, and the hostile structures and supplies are both placed in the middle of the map. Supply ends up being a fight for survival anyway, as you craft what weapons you can from what you find and then go after the opposing team if they don’t get the jump on you.
Naughty Dog is also keeping the story alive in multiplayer, giving players more of a reason to kill each other than simply “Here’s a weapon, there’s your target. Good luck.”
