‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Now Getting Scorpion? [Video]
Injustice: Gods Among Us is now getting Scorpion. Why would they do this?
DC Comics fans and possibly a few play testers may suddenly start asking, “How did he get over here?” Mortal Kombat mainstay Scorpion has been added to the roster of fighters in the latest fighting game from NetherRealm in the form of DLC, proving the rumor true that was previously reported in The Inquisitr.
The potential problem with Scorpion, the undead ninja from Mortal Kombat, showing up in Injustice: Gods Among Us is that the game was designed with input from people who hated Mortal Kombat. Does NetherRealm not understand that Midway’s Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe was just a bad idea from the start? Now after rebooting the Mortal Kombat franchise and giving DC Comics characters their own fighting game, they’ve turned around and started mixing the two again.
I guess every dog eventually goes back to its own vomit, so to say.
Scorpion in Injustice: Gods Among Us has been given a rather detailed redesign by comic book legend Jim Lee, so at least he might look like he fits into the crowd artistically, even though the crossover is just stupid.
I questioned the crossover before, when it was only a rumor, and I still think this is a terrible idea. Leave the crossover fighting games to Capcom and SNK. They’re better at it and have made it successful. The first time we crossed Mortal Kombat with anything, sales plummeted so fast I practically heard a giant deep voice yell, “Finish him!”
Admittedly, Scorpion looks better than ever in Injustice: Gods Among Us, but seriously NetherRealm, just stop with him. He does not belong in the DC Comics universe! It’s bad enough that you had him and Sub-Zero both in the trailer video for the DLC character, so now I’m wondering how many more Mortal Kombat characters you’re going to add before we just have another MK Vs DC Universe.
Also, the way Scorpion was just teleported into the game after attempting to finish Sub-Zero is just Deus ex Machina almost by definition.
Do you think it was a good idea to add Scorpion from Mortal Kombat into Injustice: Gods Among Us? Should it end with him?
