Former NBA Player Mookie Blaylock Seriously Injured In Car Crash, On Life Support
Mookie Blaylock was involved in a serious car accident on Friday afternoon. The former NBA All-Star was taken to the hospital and is currently on life support.
According to Sports Nation, Blaylock and two passengers were driving in Jonesboro, Georgia when the SUV crossed the median and struck an oncoming van.
USA Today reports that Blaylock, real name Daron Oshay Blaylock, and his two passengers were airlifted to a nearby hospital. A woman in the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Blaylock is reportedly unresponsive at the hospital.
Blaylock was drafted into the NBA in 1989 and played his first three seasons with the New Jersey Nets. Blaylock was named to the NBA All-Star team in 1994 while playing for the Atlanta Hawks. He retired after 13 seasons in the NBA, averaging 13.5 points per game and 6.7 assists.
Sadly, this is only one of many car crashes to hit the news cycle this week. A family of four was killed in a car crash over Memorial Day Weekend, five teenagers were killed in a car crash in California, and earlier this week seven people were killed when a tractor trailer disconnected from its truck and crossed the highway.
Praying 4 my Oklahoma teammate Mookie Blaylock who was in a car accident today & is on life support in a Atlanta hospital. #KeepFightingMook
