The days of Sam Mendes turning down the Bond sequel seems to be light years away. Back in the spring Mendes said that he simply wouldn’t have the time to dedicate himself to another Bond film, but now it seems like he’s changing his story.
It all started a few days ago when it was announced for a few hours that Nicolas Winding Refn was in talks to direct the next sequel with Daniel Craig. Shortly after that unofficial announcement Sam Mendes apparently got over his illness, and was able to fit the new Bond film into his busy schedule. This deal will see the director take on two Bond films.
According to Showbizz 411 Mendes is “mostly likely” directing Bond 25 . Does this mean he will shoot the two films back to back? Are the films going to be a two-parter? While nothing it known about how Mendes plans to fit in the Bond movies, it sure does reignite rumors of the latter.
Either way it is said that the producers have been very cooperate with Mendes about his busy schedule. As far as we know Mendes is going to finish up his King Leer project and his obligations for Charlie And The Chocolate Factory at the West End stage, before he jumps back into the Bond franchise.
Back in the spring Mendes even suggested that the thought of directing another Bond film would make him ill. In an interview, Mendes said , “Was I willing to go back into a room with a writer and start work on the same set of characters and the same scenarios as I’ve been working on for the last three years. The idea made me physically ill.”
Are you excited to see Sam Mendes will be back for at least one Bond film?
