Grizzlies’ Quincy Pondexter Lands Date With Miss Tennessee Via Twitter
Memphis Grizzlies guard Quincy Pondexter is making headlines and it has nothing to do with his ability to shoot a basketball.
Just days after being eliminated from the NBA playoffs by the San Antonio Spurs, Pondexter took to Twitter to score a date with Miss Tennessee 2012, Chandler Lawson.
The exchange started with Pondexter simply pointing out that he was single and in need of a girlfriend.
“Now that season is over I need 2 find a gf,” Quincy wrote. He later asked, “Who won Miss Tennessee this year?”
Only a few hours later, Lawson replied, “@QuincyPondexter hi! Heard you were looking for me? #gogrizz”
“Yup!! single? Lol,” was his reply.
When the 22-year-old Lawson acknowledged that she was, in fact, single, Pondexter saw his opportunity and skipped all the small talk, boldly asking the leggy blonde out.
Then she accepted the NBA player’s date invitation.
“We’ve got an audience waiting apparently!” Lawson wrote.
Regardless of whether Lawson is truly interested in Pondexter or is simply using the now-public exchange as a publicity stunt, she has given hope to hundreds of single men who lack the courage to ask out a woman in person.

Pondexter wasn’t the only NBA player to ask out a beauty pageant via Twitter.
Shortly after Quincy’s successful date request, Philadelphia 76ers’ guard Nick Young took a shot of his own, presumably asking out Mabelynn Capeluj, the current Miss California.
