Channing Tatum Wants To Be The ‘Male Jennifer Lawrence’

Channing Tatum admitted that he wouldn’t mind being considered the “male Jennifer Lawrence.”

The Magic Mike star recently sat down with the folks at Cosmopolitan to discusses a number of topics. During his chat, he admitted that being viewed as the male version of Jennifer Lawrence wouldn’t be too bad.

“I think she’s incredibly cool,” the actor said of the Hunger Games star.

Much like Jennifer Lawrence, Channing Tatum said that he loves to eat. When he’s not working, the actor revealed that he often gains between 25 and 30 pounds. Tatum added that he’s essentially a fat kid on the inside.

“I love food so much, and I fluctuate about 25 [to] 30 pounds between movies. I feel like I have to do a chess movie that requires very little movement at some point, just so I can eat pizza and play chess on the beach all day. And then eat more pizza and cheeseburgers and drink beer. That’d be amazing,” he explained.

Tatum added, “I’d give anything for that. I gotta figure that movie out.”

Chances are that chess movie isn’t going to happen anytime soon. In fact, Channing Tatum may have to start watching what he eats if the sequel to his male stripper flick Magic Mike comes together. According to director Steven Soderbergh, the follow-up is slowly starting to take shape.

“There were some stories and events that Channing lived through that we just couldn’t fit in the first one. One of them is a really hilarious and very cinematic idea that we reluctantly didn’t put in the first film, because it was such a big idea you could build a whole film out of it,” the director explained.

Tatum’s action flick White House Down is slated to arrive later this summer. The movie, which co-stars Jamie Foxx, opens in North America on June 28.
