Mariah Carey Leaving ‘American Idol’
Mariah Carey is leaving American Idol after just one season.
Carey hasn’t made an official announcement yet but the singer did post a message to her Twitter account. Carey said that she was going to focus on her own music and would soon embark on a new world tour in support of #Beautiful.
Carey retweeted a message from her rep, saying: “W/ global success of #Beautiful (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol.”
Carey is the second judge to announce their departure from American Idol this month (goodbye, Randy Jackson) and there are rumors circulating that Fox will soon be replacing Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban.
Urban said that he wanted to return to the show but added that he “had no idea” if he was going to get invited back.
Urban said: “I’m pretty much in the same boat as everybody else here with the rumors that have been floating around. I don’t know anything more about what’s happening next season. It was like this before I signed on … so it’s not unusual for the ‘Idol’ folks to be in this place of figuring out what they want to do, then they always pull it together.”
The Inquisitr reported earlier that Fox may bring Jennifer Lopez back to the judges table. There are also rumors that the show will use former contestants as its future judges.
