Danica Patrick, Boyfriend Make Up After Sunday’s Wreck
Danica Patrick and boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr. have made up after Sunday’s wreck, where Stenhouse collided with Parick and Brad Keselowski.
The damage to Patrick’s car left her to finish in 29th. But there was no way for Stenhouse to escape what was likely a very awkward ride home. Patrick revealed on Wednesday:
“You don’t not talk about it because you’re riding home together. There’s a few silent moments for sure, many moments. I was upset. I wasn’t necessarily strictly just upset at him. He was there three wide as part of the issue.”
But it appears the couple’s first on-track scuffle didn’t hurt their off-track relationship. They escaped for some relaxation together on a boat after the incident. Patrick added:
“We’ll be fine. We’re fine. We had a lovely day on the boat, on the lake, got a sun tan.”
Despite making up with her boyfriend, Danica Patrick is still probably frustrated about her finish, which keeps her in 30th place for her first full season in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series. While she has already been closely watched as the series’ only current woman driver, Danica also vaulted into the national spotlight when she won the pole for the Daytona 500, the sports premiere race.
And Patrick followed up the pole win with a respectable eighth place finish in the race. But since then she has experienced several others. In Phoenix, she finished 39th. Since then, Patrick has finished no better than 12th.
Along with being the series’ only current woman driver, Danica Patrick has also made headlines with her relationship to Stenhouse Jr. The couple confirmed rumors of their dating in January, right before the 500. But Patrick added of the crash on Sunday:
“I just think it was one of those situations where we were on a restart and were trying to dig for what we can. It’s the Coke 600, it’s a big weekend.”
