Will Smith Embarrasses Himself Playing Soccer [Video]
Will Smith hugely embarrassed himself whilst promoting his new film, After Earth, by taking a terrible penalty kick when playing soccer.
Smith and his son Jaden were present at the UEFA Champions Festival near Wembley stadium, where the Champions League final was being held as Bayern Munich took on Borussia Dortmund.
Smith can be seen warming up the crowd at the start of the footage. He performs stretches and lunges, in an attempt to make sure that he doesn’t injure himself before taking the kick.
He then strides up to the ball with confidence, before taking his right leg back and swinging in towards the soccer sphere. However, what happens next will now live in infamy.
Smith barely makes contact with the ball and it gently rolls towards the corner flag before coming to a halt about three feet away from where he first attempted to make contact.
The goalkeeper, who is Manchester United and Holland legend, Edwin Van Der Sar, even has to come from his goal to collect the ball as it was that far away from his net.
The crowd of around 200 people then burst out laughing in unison, as Smith then embarrassingly walks back towards the other players on the pitch.
The commentator then kindly states that Smith’s effort was “just wide.” Smith then jokingly pretends that the ball was faulty, blaming the lack of air in it for his dire effort. Van Der Sar then boots the ball into crowd to join in on the fun.
To make matters worse, Will’s son, Jaden Smith, then steps up and is able to get better contact on the ball than his father. But his effort was still comfortably saved by Edwin Van Der Sar. You can watch a clip of the incident below.
What did you think of Smith’s effort? Do you think it was worse than Diana Ross’ penalty in 1994? You can compare the two below.
