Michael Clarke Duncan’s Tombstone Vandalized By Racist
The tombstone of Michael Clarke Duncan has been vandalized by an unknown racist.
A family member tells TMZ that they stopped by Duncan’s plot at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills, California where they discovered a vandalized tombstone. According to the family member, someone drew a cartoonish black face directly in the center of the tomb.
Friends of the actor examined the image and say it appears to be a caricature of “Sambo.” That caricature has long been considered an offensive caricature of black people.
Family members were shook up enough by the event that they contacted the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Police are investigating the vandalism and if caught the vandal could be charged with a hate crime.
The “Sambo” drawing was removed immediately from the tomb.
Michael Clarke Duncan is most famous for his role in The Green Mile, but he also played various other roles during his time spent in Hollywood. Other roles for the actor included Armageddon, Planet Of The Apes, and Kung Fu Panda.
Duncan passed away at 54 years old. The Oscar-nominated actor suffered a heart attack on July 13, 2012, and eventually a lack of oxygen to his brain claimed his life. Michael Clarke Duncan was laid to rest following a funeral in Los Angeles.
More details to follow when an official update is hopefully made to the currently filed police report.
Do you think defacing a dead mans tomb with a known and widely hated racist image is enough to charge someone with a hate crime.
