Avril Lavigne: ‘Marilyn Manson Convinced Me To Shave My Head’
Avril Lavigne has revealed that Marilyn Manson convinced the singer to shave her head half-bald last year.
The Canadian singer, whose biggest hit was 2002’s “Sk8er Boi,” was talking to MTV about the decision to cut her head, which was made when she spent time with Manson and his band in France last year.
Lavigne remarked, “I had wanted to shave the side of my head for quite some time and I used to put it in a braid [at the side of my head] and so it was kind of like shaving it.”
She then added, “It was on my adventure to France. During my adventure, when I was living there, we were hanging out backstage and we were with his band having a few drinks and I was like, ‘Let’s shave my head. I’m ready; let’s do this!'”
Lavigne was very positive about Manson, stating, “He’s like that, though. He has fun. He wears his makeup; his wardrobe is very visual. I like his style.”
Lavigne is working with Manson on a new song entitled, “Bad Girl,” which will feature on her upcoming new album that is due out in September. The rocker has stated that it is one of the record’s “heavier” songs.
She explained that their collaboration came about in a rather impromptu manner, stating, “It was last minute. I was sitting there at the board thinking Manson would be perfect on this track, so I texted him and he’s like, ‘I’ll come over and hear it.’ So he came at four o’clock in the morning… Yes, it was one of those nights.”
Lavigne’s next single is entitled, “Here’s To Never Growing Up,” was co-written with Chad Kroeger, her fiance, and is set to be released on June 23rd.
