The LAPD officer arrested on Saturday, for lewd acts with children, is due in court. Miguel Angel Schiappapietra is accused of molesting two girls, under the age of 10, in his Castaic, California, home. He was arrested and is being held on charges of “lewd acts with a child.” He was charged under the specification that the children were under the age of 14.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is leading the criminal investigation into the allegations. Shiappapietra has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the LAPD , and the pending criminal charges. The details of the lewd acts have not been released.
As reported by CBS Los Angeles , Schippapietra was off duty when the alleged molestation occurred. He has been with the LAPD for six years.
Schippapietra, along with his wife and three children, recently moved to the neighborhood, following his transfer to the Foothill Division. Neighbor Tim Rossi was shocked that the LAPD officer was arrested:
“You know, having children of my own and knowing there are other children in this neighborhood … I had no idea it was going on down there. It’s very disturbing.”
The two little girls were reportedly “lured” into the home, so it is unclear whether they were related to Schippapietra. The fact that he has three children of his own, is indeed disturbing.
As the investigation is ongoing, detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims unit, are seeking any further information about this, or any other incidents involving Schippapietra. Detectives can be contacted by calling (877) 710-5273.
The 28-year-old LAPD officer was arrested on Saturday, and remains incarcerated on $100,000 bond. He is expected to appear in court today for arraignment. If released on bond, it is expected that Schippapietra will remain on house arrest pending the outcome of the case.
