UPDATED: Corey Haim dead of apparent overdose
LA is waking up to sad news this morning.
Corey Haim, 38, star of License To Drive, Lucas, The Lost Boys and Dream A Little Dream, died of an apparent accidental overdose early this morning in Los Angeles. Canadian-born Haim, best known for several roles starring fellow child star Corey Feldman, was found unresponsive in his apartment in Oakwood at around 3:30 am. He was taken to Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, where he was pronounced dead. Police were called to investigate shortly before 4 AM.
Haim, who has been in and out of rehab, spoke about his struggles with drugs on a reality show starred in with Feldman called The Two Coreys. Haim said then:
“I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck. But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day – the doctors could not believe I was taking that much,” he told a reporter in 2007.
“And that was just the Valium – I’m not talking about the other pills I went through.”
Haim is set to appear in upcoming thriller American Sunset.
