Chris Christie met Prince Harry today, with the down to Earth Jersey Gov and the second royal son teaming up to survey storm damage in the still recovering Garden State.
Christie met Prince Harry as part of the young royal’s trip to the U.S. that began on May 9 — and is unlikely to involve any naked Vegas detours , we imagine.
Before the redhead jets off to New York City to promote British trade, Christie and Prince Harry hooked up so the latter could survey storm wreckage in the seaside towns of Mantoloking and Seaside Heights — including the N.J. roller coaster that wound up in the surf after Sandy’s ravages swept the state.
Mantoloking was hit especially hard by Hurricane Sandy, with all of the small town’s 521 homes either damaged or destroyed entirely by the freak storm. Residents in the area were not even allowed to return to their houses until this past February.
On social media, Chris Christie’s Prince Harry meetup was heavily chronicled on the Gov’s accounts — and on Facebook, Christie’s page featured the above image of Christie and Prince Harry.
In it, Christie gives Prince Harry a fleece — notable due to Christie’s storm omnipresence while wearing the same navy fleece for all appearances.
After Sandy’s immediate damage was contained, Christie appeared on SNL to skewer himself and his presence during the storm, joking that the fleece was now “fused to his skin.”
Just this month, he released a funny video on his YouTube account again joking about the fleece, so Christie’s Prince Harry gift was one the young royal is likely to appreciate and find humorous.
Christie Facebooked:
“Greeting Prince Harry at the Jersey Shore the best way I know how; with his own Royal Fleece.”
Over on Twitter, Christie tweeted:

As you can in the pics above, Christie’s gift to Prince Harry certainly delighted the Brit visitor.
