Nicolas Cage To Star In The Supernatural Thriller ‘Hotel 33’

Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in the upcoming supernatural thriller Hotel 33.

The horror flick finds the busy actor starring as a detective who is looking into the mass disappearance of 32 people from a hotel in Pennsylvania. His investigation is soon complicated when a group of teenagers sneak into the building. The story is reportedly based on true events.

Hotel 33 will be written and directed by Kellie Madison. The horror flick will serve as her feature-length debut. Foresight Unlimited, Envision Entertainment, and Emmett-Furla will produce the thriller.

When the project is all wrapped up and ready to go, Open Road Films will handle distribution in North America. A release date for the movie was not announced.

Although early reports regarding Hotel 33 stated that Nicolas Cage had already signed on for the project, the folks at Foresight Unlimited later revealed nothing had been officially inked just yet.

“We have learned that the deal with Nicolas Cage on ‘Hotel 33’ is not yet closed. We therefore feel it is prudent to let the parties finalize their negotiations before we move forward with international representation of the film,” the company said in a statement to Deadline.

Nicolas Cage is having a very busy year. He has already signed on for the lead role in director Paco Cabezas’ action flick Tokarev with Max Lloyd-Jones and Aubrey Peeples. The Con Air star will play a reformed criminal who sets out to find the Russian gangsters who kidnapped his daughter.

Cage is also set to star in Left Behind for the folks at Arclight Films. The adaptation, which is spearheaded by director Vic Armstrong, tells the story of several people who remain on Earth after the Rapture. Ashley Tisdale and Chad Michael Murray will co-star in the feature.
