Paul Giamatti Featured In New ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Image [Photo]
Paul Giamatti is featured in the new image from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Marc Webb has been giving fans a steady stream of content since the sequel went into production. The director’s latest tweet gives moviegoers their first look at Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich.
Those who grew up reading the Spider-Man comic books already know that Sytsevich later becomes the supervillain known as Rhino. The latest image from the forthcoming follow-up shows the character prior to his transformation into our hero’s adversary.
In the books, Aleksei is a thug working in the Eastern Bloc who agrees to an scientific experiment. His strength and speed are soon augmented considerably after his skin is infused with an extremely strong polymer. However, it’s unclear how close Webb is sticking to the source material for the movie.
The director is changing up the origin story for Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It’s not entirely far-fetched that Webb and company may decide to alter Sytevich’s tale to fit the cinematic universe they have crafted. Regardless, it’s kind of cool to know that the character is definitely appearing in the film.
Details about Paul Giamatti’s character have been kept under wraps since he was cast in the film earlier this year. Although Webb tweeted out the picture you see below, he didn’t address any of the unanswered questions regarding Rhino and his origins.
However, fans probably won’t have to wait too long for a glimpse of Giamatti as Rhino. As evidenced by the leaked footage of Jamie Foxx as Electro, there’s a strong possibility someone will snap some footage of the character prior to the film’s release next year.
