Marvel Films Rumored: ‘Ms Marvel’ And ‘Blade’ Reboot
Marvel Studios has been busy lately, with rumors at least. Ms Marvel and a reboot of Blade may be in the works.
After rumors circulating of Avengers 2 possibly getting canceled due to contract negotiation problems, Marvel Studios may have to rethink their tactics. Joss Whedon may also need to focus his creative energy elsewhere, and he may have some outlets in the works. In Joss Whedon’s rough draft for the seemingly doomed Avengers 2, he had supposedly found a loophole allowing him to use characters related to a very prominent member of the X-Men films. However, due to the main actors asking for more money it might not happen at all.
On the bright side, Ms Marvel and Ant-Man are two films that are rumored to be in Marvel’s future, alongside a reboot of Blade.
Blade was a Wesley Snipes superhero movie that started well enough, but after Blade II, the series just seemed to take a dive. Even without the obvious casting problems, the characters just didn’t fit the film at all in Blade Trinity. Ryan Reynolds was trying to be funny and Patton Oswalt wasn’t, and yet the opposite happened. The next Blade was made for TV and included in a four-pack of the films for bargain bins.
Needless to say, Blade could use a reboot. Maybe if Iron Man 4 and Avengers 2 get nixed, we might see Don Cheadle recast as the new Blade. Chris Evans worked as Captain America, so you never know.
Ms Marvel was always one of the lesser known Avengers, a character who harnessed cosmic energy in ways that made her almost untouchable, and a film about her may just rival Man of Steel if it gets the green light. Being not as well known as other characters might give Ms Marvel an advantage.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther and The Runaways are other projects on the horizon. The company slowly has been reacquiring licenses to characters it lost during the 1990s, snapping up Blade, Ghost Rider, Power Man and Daredevil in the past year alone.”
All in all, the Marvel movie franchise could practically flip in the next five years, with Avengers films being a pleasant memory of what may have been.
