Jackie Chan Set To Star In The Action Comedy ‘Skiptrace’
Jackie Chan has reportedly signed on to star in the upcoming action flick Skiptrace.
The iconic action hero will join forces with up-and-coming star Fan Bingbing for the project. Exclusive Media will co-produce and co-finance the comedy with the folks over at Talent International Film Group in Beijing.
Although Jackie Chan came up with the initial idea behind Skiptrace, he won’t be penning the project. Screenwriters Jay Longino, Brian Gatewood, and Alessandro Tanaka have been hired to tackle scripting duties on the movie.
Flushed Away and ParaNorman director Sam Fell will step behind the camera for the film. The action-comedy will serve as the filmmaker’s feature-length live-action debut.
Chan stars as a Hong Kong detective ordered to track down an American gambler who is on the run from creditors. However, the pair ultimately form an unlikely partnership as they attempt to bring down one of the city’s most notorious gangsters. The movie will shoot at various locales across China.
The role of the American gambler has yet to be cast. It’s also unclear who Fan Bingbing will play in Skiptrace. More about the film and its cast will likely be revealed as production gets underway.
Fan is quickly making a name for herself in the realm of action cinema. In addition to appearing in footage exclusively incorporated into the Chinese version of Iron Man 3, she is currently filming Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Jackie Chan’s last theatrical release was Chinese Zodiac, the third entry in his popular Armor of God series. The actor recently debuted Police Story 2013 at the 2013 Beijing International Film Festival last month. Sylvester Stallone is reportedly recruiting Chan for The Expendables 3.
